Labuan Island

Labuan, often referred to as the “Pearl of Borneo,” is a beautiful island situated northwest of Borneo. Its name is derived from the Malay word “Labuhan,” meaning ‘pier’ or ‘harbour’, reflecting its significant historical role as a major shipping and trading center. The island is known for its serene beaches, duty-free shopping, and a diverse cultural scene. Labuan is also a bustling financial center, home to leading banks. The island is a year-round destination, though visitors should note that November to February is the monsoon season, which can bring heavy rainfall.
